MEET THE TAR RIVER TEAM
Dedication. Expertise. Passion.
Dr. Elyse Goldman, DVM
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Elyse Goldman attended North Carolina State University for both her BS (1981) and DVM (1985) degrees. Following her passion for animals, she opened Tar River Veterinary Hospital in 1989. She is very pleased to say that she and several members of the staff have been together since the early days.
When she is not busy at the hospital she is spending time with her husband, sons, 3 dogs, 6 cats (that live at the office), chickens, and especially the newest member of the family their granddaughter. Dr. Goldman also enjoys gardening, playing hand bells, scrapbooking, working out (occasionally) and the benefits of her husbands favorite hobby - cooking.
Lead Nursing Staff
Tamryn graduated from Penn Foster with an associate's degree in veterinary technology over 20 years ago and has been in the field ever since. She was the nursing supervisor for emergency/ICU and the surgical department at a specialty hospital for several years before starting her own micro dairy farm where she raises and shows Saanen dairy goats, A2 dairy cows, and produces beef, pork, and lamb for sale. She currently raises health tested and OFA certified imported Spanish Mastiffs and French Bulldogs.

Deena Sobhi Shehadeh has been a vet tech and kennel attendant at Tar River since September of 2014.
Outside of work, Deena loves being a homeschool mom for her 11 year old son, Elliott. She also stays busy with a large furry family that includes a bunch of black cats and 2 pug mixes.
Fantastic addition to the team! Donnie is absolutely a pinch hitter who works very hard to be available when needed before being asked!
Jamie has been working as Tar River Veterinary Hospital's groomer for over 16 years, following her completion of Grooming School. Between 1996 and 2000, Jamie was one of our Kennel Workers.
Jamie lives on a small farm in Henderson with her husband and 3 children. Jamie and her family hope to soon breed, promote, and protect the endangered American Cream Draft Horse. The Dorans have many animals on their farm including dogs, cats, turkeys, chickens, peacocks, pet rats, a chinchilla, a ferret, a donkey, and of course horses.
Eileen has been with Tar River Veterinary Hospital since October 1990. She started as a Kennel Tech and quickly moved up to the front desk receptionist, then to Office Manager.
Eileen enjoys spending time with her husband of 45 years, their 3 adult children and their spouses, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She also enjoys spoiling her 1 dog and 3 cats (all rescues).

Gabby has grown up at the Tar River Vet as the groomer's daughter and has always had a deep love for animals. She began working at Tar River in 2022 as a receptionist.
Gabby owns two dogs of her own, a Great Dane and a Frenchie. When she's not at work you can find her spending time with animals around the farm or spending time with her friends and family.
